You can start right on our property, by stepping inside this secret cave tucked inside towering rocks beyond the guest lodge. Now called Crooked Hook Cave, guests may not find it unless they are looking for it. Inside, traces of red ochre powder have been found, a mineral used by Native Americans.

Mountain Palace River Access

Walk to the river’s edge and cast away, with the Mountain Palace River Access right across the road, as well as several other convenient river access points nearby

Hardy Bridge

Take a short walk to the Hardy bridge – famously featured in The Untouchables movie.

Tower Rock State Park

Tower Rock was a landmark for native tribes, the Corps of Discovery, fur trappers, traders and many more that followed in their footsteps.

Attractions Heading North to Great Falls

You may want to book an extra day to see all the unique and historic attractions our area has to offer. Here are some stops to plan along a short drive north toward Great Falls.

First Peoples Buffalo Jump

Native peoples used this site for at least a thousand years before Lewis and Clark passed through here. See one of the largest buffalo jump sites in the country.

Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center

This permanent exhibit hall in Great Falls brings to life the daily experiences of the expedition and the environment and native peoples of the ‘uncharted West’.

Giant Springs State Park

First recorded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805, it is one of the largest freshwater springs in the country.

C. M. Russell Museum

Charles Marion Russell (1864–1926) captured the art and soul of the American West through 4,000+ recorded works featuring oil paintings, watercolor, sculpture, and writing, many featured here.

Area Attractions Heading South to Helena

You can also choose to go south from our lodge and head toward Helena. Here are some spots of interest we recommend.

Gates of the Mountain

Consider booking a 2-hr boat tour on the waterway of the area named by Lewis of Lewis & Clark because the “great stone walls seemed to block passage, only to open like gentle giant gates as the expedition drew near.”

Helena State Capitol

The state capitol building was dedicated in 1901. It houses the Montana State Legislature and tours are available.

Montana Blue Jewel Mine

The Montana Blue Jewel Mine has repeatedly been reported as one of the best sapphire mining experiences in Montana. Dig and find your own sapphire!

Rent a Bike

Helena has 70+ miles of single track trails and gravel rides and is named a silver-level destination by the International Mountain Biking Association.

Local Breweries

Visit one of our local breweries, or tour several. The Peddle Pub Brewer Tour, for groups up to 15, starts at Lewis & Clark Brewery, with stops at Ten Mile Creek Brewery, Blackfoot River Brewing Company and finishes at Mt Ascension Brewery.
